You really capture the essence of the place in your South Africa paintings, David. This one is no exception, it really conveys the stark beauty and unique atmosphere of the continent.

The farms in the Karoo are quite large and life there is quite hard. I have been attempting to display this and the remoteness in my paintings.

Another watercolour of this arid region in Southern Africa. The painting is based on a photograph taken by my sister who was recently visiting from Cape Town. She brought me quite a few photos of Karoo scenes so you are likely to see more paintings of this stark landscape.
