This is exactly what had pushed me away from graphite drawing, meant to be my main, my core of making artwork - the colour. Even though monochrome art is so artistic by itself, you can express something beyond just by adding colour... Nice art as usual David.

Thank you for your kind comment, PogArt

I think colour always adds another dimension to art work although not entirely always. It is a very pleasing painting David that intrigues me. One the title Nelly's Moss Lake! And the intake structure! I presume this involves measurement of the lakes capacity? I'm no engineer David so excuse my ignorance on this matter.🤔

Very nice David.

Beautiful and informative David. I particularly like those firs in the background, or maybe they are Scot’s pines.

Thank you Stephen, Chris, Denise and Carol for your very kind comments. Chris - Lord Armstrong ( of Armstrong- Vickers fame) built the Cragside estate and developed a whole hydroelectric scheme on the estate. This intake structure in the man made lakes leads to a hydroelectric generating house where turbines are housed. The Cragside house was the first building in the UK to be powered by locally sourced hydroelectric power. The estate is by far my most favourite National Trust property to visit in England!!

Thank you so much David for taking the time to satisfy my curiosity. We are NT members but I never gave it a thought at the time. Looks a lovely place to explore as your painting shows. Much appreciated.

So interesting David. I really like the small details, the bulrushes, trees and movement of the water.

Thank you Spencer for your very kind comment!

The colours are really super David.

I did this ink sketch in the latter part of last year of the intake structure on this lake on the Cragside estate in Northumberland. Over the weekend I decided to add a colour wash to the sketch!
