Interesting way you have reversed what is more usual, i.e. darker roof fading to lighter walls as they meet the ground. Makes and interesting and attractive painting.

Thanks Thea. It's all about the intensity of the summer light. I stood sketching this with the sun beating down, reflecting off the roof tiles. When I got around to painting it I referred back to my notes. I wanted to make the roof show that the sun was shining strongly so I washed out the tile colour which also allowed me to introduce more depth to the picture by accentuating the shading on the white walls. I think it worked?
