Smarden by Andy Butler

I love all these long views although Smarden is my favourite, along with Ramsgate marina and Sandwich. They are so beautifully architectural, well done.

I had a look through your gallery, Andy, and I must say: it is stunning!! I like all your panoramic views, but this is my favourite, because of the typical English architecture of the houses. What is the size of those paintings?

Very well done for having this painting chosen to be one of the Paintings of the Month. I can quite see why it was chosen as it is different, inventive and such an interesting take on a subject. Do you sell these in the towns you have painted - I bet there is a huge market for them.

Mia, thanks for your comment, I'm glad you like them. They are typically 38" to 48" wide but the image size of Smarden is just over a metre at 42.5". I think the framed picture is approx 10" wider

Thea, thanks for your comment. It was a pleasant surprise to be chosen, but an even bigger surprise when I consider the volume and quality of the paintings that were considered. It's almost an honour! I enjoy painting the whole subject and so nearly always end up producing a panorama. If I don't I feel I've omitted something. I've sold quite a few. The Smarden painting is currently for sale in the West End House Gallery in Smarden, The gallery is actually in the centre of the picture. To be honest I'm ambivalent whether they sell or not at the moment as I plan to take as many as are unsold to a larger market next year when I exhibit at some fairs and I'll need some material. Will you be exhibiting at the upcoming Folkestone Art Society autumn exhibition?
