I just love the colours and I can see a Monet influence - well done

Absolutely incredible sunshine on that central tree. Thank you so much for explaining the colours. Very helpful. I struggle to get that sort of warmth.I think this really is remarkable.

This is fantastic colours and so well done.

Glad you put the figures in, really good idea, gives a lovely focal point. A beautiful glowing painting. Thanks for giving us the colour information.

Lovely painting, great composition and the figures are such a good focal point, marvellous!

Thanks for taking time to comment. I will make a point of always sharing the colours and techniques, I know I am certainly always interested to hear how others are getting the effects they do, and why they choose colours and techniques. Thanks again

Wasn't going to log in today, what with sciatica, and cold, but knew I had to when I saw this ... fantastic depiction of light and colour, and the figures work well - the painting is a good size, too, and must be a real spectacle in the flesh.

Lovely painting, light is fantastic, figures really do look great, really love it.

Wow! This is fantastic, beautiful light. This is a classic. Well done.

Love the violet hues inthis one Jx

If this was in a book of Turner paintings, most people would believe it was one of his. The subtle colours of the tree on the left mark it out against the late sun paintings most of us do. Really excellent.

This was from our walk on new year's day, another take on the 'winter sunshine' theme. I was tempted to just leave out the figures, like I usually do, but decided to be brave and it would have been possible to scrape them off if it was terrible but I think they're ok. I was going for a mostly impressionistic style with a touch of focus around the tree and foreground. The glowing (hopefully!) branches are various mixes of raw sienna, skin tint, burnt sienna, crimson alizarin with white and coereleum to tone up and down. Viridian green features a lot in the shaded areas, with quite a bit of sgraffito to get texture. Next I think I'd like to try paint the famous A1 steam locomotive, just for fun...
