Wow Andrea this is a fab painting all that detail !

What a lovely selection of ‘proper shops’ Andrea! Great detail and character.

Lovely bookshop and beautifully painted.

Thank you Anne. This one was such a challenge! So much to capture in the windows and that writing on the awning too. I was very happy to get everything I wanted in by the end :- )

Thank you Tessa :- ) We are so lucky to have this traditional bookshop and a great variety of other independent shops on the high street. The quirkier, the better!

Thank you so much Paul :- ) This one was one of the more challenging - there’s so much to fit in an eight inch square painting - but I am very happy with the result.

This whole series has been SO good and another great shopfront painting

Delightful painting.

Aw thank you Heather :- ) and thank you so much for your continued support throughout the series too!

Thank you so much Denise :- ) very kind of you

Love all the detail here and the liveliness of the colours Andrea.

Three excellent paintings Andrea - a lovely reminder of how our High streets used to look.

Thank you Carole :- ) yes, this bookshop is famous for its stunning Christmas window displays - this painting will be the December image in a ‘Painting the town’ calendar I’ll be printing later in the year so I wanted it to be particularly bright and appealing. (If only to counteract all that grey and dark weather we usually have in December!)

Luckily this particular high street still does look like this Shaun, but I am very sad that we are losing one of our local shops (Winifred’s - seen early on in this series) to a major branded food takeaway business :- ( Very sad news.

Thanks so much Chris :- )

Gullivers Bookshop is Wimborne shopfront number 5. It's window dressed for Christmas because it will be December 2023's image in the 'Painting the Town' Wimborne calendar which I'll be putting to print later this year :- ) (It did seem rather odd to be painting snowmen when I could see blackbirds nest building in the glorious sunshine!) ...wherever next?
