Sunflowers in a Lilac Jug

Comments

I think this is great, the purple of the vase works so well with the sunflowers and I really like how you've incorporated the same tints throughout.

Thank you for your lovely comments Heather :- ) It’s my favourite jug so it doesn’t get used much from fear of it getting damaged. So it’s rather nice to see it finally in a painting.

Love this Andrea and the jug is exquisite with light and reflections. Love the purple contrasting with those lovely sunflowers.

Beautifully painted, Andrea - the jug is very impressive with the details and reflections.

Beautiful combination Andrea.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments Carole :- )

Thank you Anne, I love this jug! The pattern of rose blooms inside and geometric patterns and flourishes outside is only stencilled on, so it will never be on the Antiques Roadshow ... but it was great to have the opportunity to sit and study the pattern and those reflections while painting this.

Thank you so much Fiona, thanks for commenting :- )

Beautifully painted Andrea.

Thank you for commenting Diane, very much appreciated :- )

After I’d tried, unsuccessfully, to find sunflowers for quite a different painting project, my husband found some in the next town. They looked like sticks when they first arrived home, and are refusing to fully open! I decided to paint a still life instead and paired the sunflowers with a lilac jug, which I bought years ago at a local vintage flea market. I’m pleased this jug is finally in a painting, even if it wasn’t actually what I intended to paint next! Oils on cotton canvas panel: 30 x 22 cms
