Simple but effective. I like it.

Very good observation of colours and tones

It looks to be a very elegant pen and you have caught the texture very well.

Very nice indeed!

lovely observation...great colours

Thank you, everyone! I must admit, I wasn't 100% sure about this one (odd subject), but it turned out OK so I thought I'd share it. Regarding the pen itself, I decided there was little enough to lose and poked at it with a pin after running hot water through the nib unit. Then I gave it a "safe" washable blue cartridge and ... well, it does seem to be working. Albeit not entirely blue yet.

Unusual subjects usually make great paintings and this is no exception, love it.

Beautifully painted, with great textures.

Excellently observed piece of work.

The simplest and most common stuff around you is often the best to paint and you have done this so well.

I love this painting, Amanda. A different, unusual topic is always good to see. The colours are warm and the detail is just right. It's lovely!

A super painting Amanda! My first visit to your gallery and this was WOW! I like the pen, a Mont Blanc I think. If it plays up you can sell it to me!

Thank you very much, A. Stephen Norris! The pen is not a Mont Blanc (as far as I can tell; it is labelled "GREENWICH... COLLECTION / LONDON"); it has a wooden barrel, which is equally beautiful (walnut, I think). Still doesn't work, but if you really want it you will have to wait until I have painted the whole thing ;-)

Postcard-sized watercolour with cheating white acrylic highlights. 'Tis a handsome fountain pen, but it's never worked right.
