Amanda, I like the people looking at people and though the viewers are static (rather like their subjects), they do seem very alive, you cannot see the faces of two of them, yet their bodies show that they are intently studying the subjects - nice. If this is just a fun piece, you could have hung some of your art pieces on the gallery walls.

I like this painting. It holds my interest. The people are all looking hard at the paintings, and there is a lovely balance about it.

Hi I love the concept very clever idea betiful work xx

I rather like this as it is! The figures are brilliant! Their poses convey so much.

This is a really interesting painting Amanda, I like the subdued palette, the contemplative figures and the clever composition.

Thank you, Norman, Shirley, Paula, Sarah and Christine. The subdued palette is intended to echo the Newlyn School paintings that were on show (I used buff titanium, black, ultramarine, yellow ochre, alazarin crimson (hue), hooker's green and - finally - a little titanium white). The lady and the younger man were from sketches made in the exhibition. The older man is ... well, he's escaped from William Holt Yates Titcomb's "Jubilee Day, St Ives, Cornwall (Good News from the Front)", which he is standing in front of... http://www.bbc.co.uk/arts/yourpaintings/paintings/jubilee-day-st-ives-cornwall-good-news-from-the-front-90905

You can add me to the list of admirers of this super piece for all the reasons stated above - it's a posting I will return to from time to time.

Very well done Amanda. I like it a lot.

Inevitable blog post with inevitable embedded music video (*not* autoplay!) and slightly less inevtable animated gif of in-progress shots here: http://amanda-bates-artist.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/people-at-exhibition.html
