Love your use of complementary colours and the foreground design Alix. You did extremely well under difficult circumstances. Lovely work.

Carole and Heather, thank you so much but I have to confess that the frustrations overrode the planning of any colours! The foreground: I added the shadow of branches to stop the picture being divided between just lilies and sky-reflected water. It to so long and with so many over-thin layers stopping what I saw in my mind from being created. However, I do quite like it despite everything! Haha!

Trying to paint this in the summer 2023 heatwave has been extremely difficult. I had planned to do it with a knife in a contemporary way but the heat affected the paint and made it too runny and layers became very thin indeed. Acrylic, 25 x 20 cm. Inspired by lilies seen on holiday in NW Scotland in 2021 when I first caught Covid!
