What a fabulous result - envious of your patience in producing so much detail and those posts are a perfect addition to the composition.

It was certainly worth the effort! Beautifully atmospheric.

Absolutely wonderful! So glad that you finished this as it really is a work of art.

Such fantastic detail but done in an engaging way, Alice. It's a lovely painting that lets the eye roam around it again and again. Really well done

It's just lovely Alice. Wonderful detail. Well done.

An amazing piece of patience and skill Alice.

I would have looked at this scene and thought no way can I paint this. You have succeeded in spectacular style.

Absolutely amazing and you must have so much patience to be able to capture so much detail. It definitely does give the impression of a bustling harbour. Superb work.

Thanks for all the great comments :) This one was a real labour of love so I'm glad that people like it...

Glad you didn't give up on it, Alice, it is a great piece of work to look at.

Really amazing amount of detail done so cleverly. It's a lovely picture.

Work of love indeed Alice! Fantastic result!!

Brilliant piece of painting

Great painting. The droop of hawsers & cables is very hard to get right. You have succeeded beautifully.

This is fab. There is no way I could paint all that detail.

I wouldn't know where to start with such a busy painting, Alice. You have got a great eye for detail.

Wow! A class act Alice...

The technical habour equipment and in the distance this beautiful castle on the scenic rocks, great theme Alice.

I visited Newlyn a couple of years ago and was impressed by the riot of colour in the harbour, but thought 'that is impossible to paint'. You have proved me wrong. Impressive.

Beautiful and such a lot of work. I found it fascinating.

well done for persevering

Unbelievable. You have got tremendous patience in getting all those masts and ships equipment in the right position. Beautiful.

This acrylic painting on paper is of a view from Newlyn Harbour of St Michael's Mount in Cornwall. This is a complicated and challenging view,so challenging in fact that I nearly gave up on it several times throughout the process! I had to think very carefully about which areas to paint in which order as there are so many ropes and masts in front of each other and it took considerably longer than I thought it would. Glad I stuck with it though! I really wanted to capture the hustle and bustle of this thriving fishing harbour set in this beautiful and historic panorama. I loved the idea of St Michael's Mount watching serenly and majestically over Newlyn through the ages and its busy fishing port.
