Storm over the Rape field

Storm over the Rape field
Comments

We have quite a few of these rape fields here in North Devon and like you they seem to amaze me with such a beautiful colour which seems almost unreal! A nice contrast with the stormy sky and rape seeds.

I always have loved this contrast and you have captured it brilliantly.

This has enormous impact. Great painting of the rape field with that acid yellow. The only thing that occurs to me is that it seems to be a painting of two halves and I wonder if adding a little of that glowering yellow you get in the sky in storms would tie the sky and field together. However, I don't paint landscapes like this - so what do I know!

Thanks Paul, most appreciated. Sylvia: I had memories of some paintings of lemons on a grey background in my head when I came up with this. I like the contrast too :) Thea: What do you know? Quite a bit - good idea :) If I was confident of doing it I would give it a go but as I'm not I'll wait until after it's been exhibited (if it ever is). You'll be pleased to know that I am concentrating on landscapes and seascapes now. Lots of warm ladies locally :)

So I don't need any more blankets at the ready then lol! Looking forward to seeing your seascapes particularly, as I love the sea, which is obvious from all my boat and lighthouse paintings, and I do enjoy all the different interpretations of anything nautical. Good luck with all the paintings to come.

Thanks Thea. I was by a lake yesterday and saw an old rowing boat pulled half out of the water. No camera :( but I had my mobile. I had two hours on the painting this afternoon. A whole day (hopefully) tomorrow :) Keep those blankets handy though :))
