The Cornfield

The Cornfield

This reminds me of the fields that I am walking through with my dog at the moment - just on the point of being cut. The corn is golden crisp and waving in the breeze and your painting captures that feeling very eloquently. Do I detect just a hint of a few poppies amongst the corn - if so a lovely addition. Beautiful hazy trees and hedges in the background and a lovely summer sky. Very simple but wonderfully well done.

Recognised this as one of yours straight away. Very ethereal and evocative of the perfect summers day.

On my way to my dads this afternoon, the most wonderful coloured field just waiting to be harvested, I thought oh I must paint that, but you've beat me to it ! - beautiful!

Like this a lot Alan, not over worked but conveys everything about the scene.......super!

Thank you all for taking time to comment, much appreciated. I purposely went out to paint a scene like this as I knew the cornfields are due to be harvested at any moment so time was of the essence.Thea, yes there are a few poppies there, a touch of artistic license, as the poppies I saw were actually to the side of the cornfield but I thought that they led the eye in to the painting. However, I didn't want to overstate them as the essence of the painting was the cornfield itself.

A lovely sense of a warm Summer's day Alan. I like your colours too.

I was out today in the Surrey Hills area and did this 'en plein air' with my trusty pochade box for companionship (lol) This is 14" x 10" using Winsor and Newton Oils.
