A very appealing painting. Love the sun rising through the trees and especially love the foreground. There's warmth in the foreground but definitely a chilly December Morning in the background. Excellent work.

Really nice Alan, a painting worth getting up early for. I can't quite tell from the image but have you used metallics in the foreground?

Thank you Jeanette and Gary......no metallics(?) used, just plain old acrylics with a bit of scratching out using in order, a knife, end of the brush, a small chisel (I had to hand!) and fingernails plus a bit of spattering using a toothbrush (old!!).

Hi Alan. These are some stunning additions to your gallery. I like what I see in each of them, 'Summer Meadow' perhaps being the one that I would have on my wall.

I like this - very evocative, and although you've thrown the kitchen sink at it in terms of techniques, it doesn't look in any way overworked, far from it.

Yes, Robert I thought that maybe I had gone a bit far on techniques at first, but they all seemed to work in their own small way so I decided to keep them as they 'happened'. I was dithering as to whether I should enter this painting in a competition hence I put it on here to see what the general consensus was....I think I'll enter it!!.....Bingle Jells!!!!

I'd definitely enter this. It has atmospheric persona, gravitas... well, I'm completely lost for words, as you can see- just stick it in the comp and watch it soar like an eagle!

Yes well done and very effective Normally I would like an opening for me to walk through but this works very well as is.

Thanks for your comments Alan. Great work, especially like this one. The texture and colour in the foreground contrast beautifully with the misty sunlight. I have admired Kurt jackson's work for years and as you rightly point out it influences my work.
