Love it Alan, full of drama and so rich.

Wow Alan out with a beautiful flourish and a truly stunning painting

Absolutely stunning, Alan. Full of energy and movement.

Smashingly good - marks, texture, palette, super subject to work with on your doorstep

excellent palette knife work Alan

Rich in colour and expression. Just wish I had your talent Alan.

What a great direction - super stuff

I like this Alan, the creamy textures are sumptuous!

It's excellent Alan , I particularly like the vertical marks in the foreground as they perfectly balance the horizontal strokes as one moves forward

I love it - the abstract sweeps of the brush & colour are superb Alan

Smashing work, Alan, superb brush or knife strokes and colours, great semi-abstract. The new direction is winning, Alan.

Love the energy and dynamic marks and brush work Alan. I like your change of direction, look forward to more coming our way.

Thanks to you all for some positive comments, let me know when you're fed up with seeing them! I am churning out quite a few each day but will only post a few each week. To Sarah in particular, you have talent, my talent is no different or better, just keep experimenting like I do, and try not to get in a rut painting the same way every day.

Oh yes, this one does it for me Alan - powerful and not too abstract. Envy your location.

I love this style, Alan, and this is a great painting. And even in the semi-abstract form, it brings the landscape to life.

This I absolutely love!

Recognised your style Alan! Lovely work!

greats marks, texture and colours. A brilliant piece Alan, absolutley top notch.

Love the slightly abstract quality of this piece, Alan. Superb use if shapes and hues.

Lovely combination of colours, Alan, and great textures.

Someone referred to the creamy texture of your oil paintings, and that's what strikes me very often, perhaps particularly in this one - it's a method that can very easily get out of hand, but it certainly hasn't here; rich colours, recession, sharp and crisp details but not too many of them: and I like the energy in this.

Thanks all once again, and yes Robert, it can all get out of hand very quickly, muddiness being the worst enemy, so you have to work with clean knives and brushes.

Wow Alan, I really like this. The colours, the movement, the water, the weather.

I think this is a magical painting, Alan. The colours and the use thereof are wonderful and the feeling of turbulence in the weather is very exciting. You may call it a sketch but to me it has the look of a finished work.

A super painting. The contrasts in the mark making and texture give a loose and free effect. A great impressionistic style.

Sorry I'm a bit late in coming across your painting. Makes me want to pick up my paints and get outdoors - if only I could be as expressive as you are! Great stuff.

Thank you Maureen for your comment, I hope that you are not a relative of the mindless moron who commented before you... I'm sure you're not, anyway, have a go, I will be doing a demo at some stage on the online bonus feature and a small article on 'loosening up' will be in next month's LP, followed by a page feature in The Artist September edition.

I just love the suggestion of- is it people in the centre with rushes in the foreground and the distant landscape. So full of passion for your subject.

This is absolutely gorgeous Alan- I see it’s actually 2016!! So I’m a bit late as usual! Anyway, have missed a lot of your work that’s gone on as I haven’t been on the site much, but from what I can see your doing wonderful things! Well done you! Would love to see more Plein air stuff!!

A complete change of direction, I am working on a series of 'semi-abstract' oil paintings, various sizes up to 48in. This one, painted yesterday is from one of my favourite spots for sketching, 200+ acres of unspoint nature reserve wetlands on my doorstep, offering some great vistas. I have to move on from the printing (only temporary), and be more expressive and loose, which has always been my preferred style, although I do find it so difficult to not overwork things too much, I hope 'less is more', and I do hope that you will enjoy looking at the series. This one is 305 x 305mm and is oil on Daler board, ideal for outdoor work.
