Fabulous - the road leading you right into the heart of the painting. And a Happy New Year to you, too.

Happy New Year Alan! That road really leads down, very skillful. Again, I like the palette. Also, I read the far distance as hills, which I like the idea of, tho' I suspect it may be sky.

Love this one, Alan. Great composition and some lovely warm colours. Happy New Year to you as well.

Thank you Robert, Marjorie and Jenny, they are hills in the far right distance Marjorie.

Great composition and lovely perspective, Alan. I like the growing light from the foreground to background and the colours you used. Happy New Year to you too, Alan.

Another winner Alan, love the liberal use of paint and the brushmarks. Happy new Year.

Absolutely love everything about this Alan, colour palette, composition, depth, it has it all. Happy New Year to you too!

Alan, these last few paintings have been exceptional, is it the subject matter, the location? Whatever it is, it works and this is beautiful! Jules loves this one too!

Sorry......Happy New Year!!

Beautiful painting, with road guiding us down into the middle of,wonderful. Great colours and depth, another absolute gem. A happy new year to you also Alan.

Lovely work once again Alan, the oranges and browns bring life to the winter scene. Trust you enjoy a happy new year too.

Fantastic view again Alan! It it Van Dyke red that you are using a lot in your paintings?

Forgot to wish you a very Happy New Year Alan so here it comes..X

Thank you all again, I do appreciate your comments, Satu, it is W&N Artists' Venetian Red and also Terre Rosa, and mixed with Pthalo Blue on occasions to get that really shadowy side to the foliage.

A happy new year to you to Alan, and what a great way to start it with this lovely painting.

And a happy new year to you too Alan - difficult subject with the road full on but you've made a cracker of it.

Thank you Julie and Michael, appreciated.

Love it as always Alan I like the road leading away.

Excellent as usual. It has a lovely, creamy look; lots of lovely paint!

Oil on canvas 24 x 30in. A favourite view of mine on the Harrowby Estate, with Sandon church in the distance. I would like to wish all my fellow artists a Happy New Year.
