Always wonderful paintings, Alan. The sky is superb.

The lack of detail in the hall gives centre stage to the fabulous sky. I like the softness of these new watercolours and this style Alan.

You are spoilt for choice with all the great subjects nearby Alan another gem

The sky is the centre piece, but everything in this looks great.

Wonderful atmosphere and light in this piece, Alan. Great work, as usual!

Great atmosphere to this one Alan lovely painting

It looks like ghostly past even if it isn't. It could be the time of year. I love the reds and blues.

Great Alan, love the almost ghostly hall.

Splendid piece indeed Alan , I love to see painters painting in their localities as it gives a beautiful insight into their world

It's the sky that does it for me Alan and so well balanced with the darks in the foreground.

Really like this one, Alan. Great sky as usual, and despite the strong colours it has a nice softness to it.

A mysterious air to this painting Alan...I think its because the hall is in soft focus, and all the other features are painted in strong tones.

Great colours again, Alan.

Watercolour on Fabriano 300lb paper 11 x 15''. Just a few miles from my home lies this beautiful hall, dating back to 1852 and the residence of the Earl of Harrowby. Having painted this subject on several ocassions, once as a commission from Lord Harrowby, but a much more detailed painting, I opted for a very quick sketch, concentrating primarily on the sky and leaving out any detail in the hall itself.
