I think, as per Tessa, we'll all be fascinated to read of your experience on the ACF watercolour canvas - it's never really occurred to me to paint with watercolour on canvas, but I do remember a series of wonderful watercolours by an artist using canvas, after and during a trip through the Taklamakan Desert: featured in The Artist magazine a good many years ago (can't find the article: I have a varied collection of TA magazines, from all sorts of random dates: I wish I'd kept that one, but - you can't keep everything: and if you did, you'd never find it again: I wish I'd bound them all, but room was the issue: anyway, sorry, here we go again rambling). I'd really welcome an article from you on this surface and the techniques it suggests: I hope the editor commissions one - and if that's not a heavy hint, I don't know one when I see it...

Alan—what a fantastic piece! I really admire the variety of techniques and the richness of colour throughout. It’s a joy to see how you're bringing the ACF watercolour canvas to life. Just to share a little context: the canvas Alan is using is part of a small batch of watercolour-specific samples we’ve distributed to a few UK artists. These aren’t available to the public just yet, but we’re aiming to have them on our store (www.acfcanvasses.com) around August/September 2025. While there are grounds available for adapting traditional canvases, this surface has been developed specifically for watercolours—no added prep or priming is required. Just paint (and hopefully enjoy the process!). Really looking forward to seeing the final work, Alan.
