Beggars Bridge and River Esk, Glaisdale, N. Yorks
This is a famous bridge built in 1619 by Tom Ferris who was the son of a farmer. He was courting a Squire's daughter, Agnes Richardson. He went to sea but before doing so went to visit Agnes and couldn't get across the water due to flooding. He vowed that when he returned he would build a bridge for her. I took this photo looking at the bridge head on. In retrospect I should have trimmed the trees a little and made more of the bridge.
