Bleached Roots

Comments

I like this, Alison. The tree is beautifully done...although it's pointless picking out bits, the whole thing works so well.

I really like how you've painted this

Thank you Lewis and Heather, I'm very grateful for your positive comments

Alison, thank you for your very kind comment on my last posting. I love your approach to this subject and the free style in which you have painted it. Great shape and pen work in the tree....it looks parched!

Thank you Fiona, I was very happy to receive your encouraging comments!

This was from our wonderful road trip across West Coast America last year. It was at Bryce Canyon National Park, on a cliff edge overlooking a fairytale landscape of pinky orange pinnacles. The tree was in sharp contrast to the blue sky, the white rock and the orange background, and I wanted to convey the heat and harsh sunshine with the bleached twisted roots and defined shadows. Painted in pen and watercolour.
