Very well done Martin 🙂

I like this a lot Martin, simple, pared back and lovely brushwork

A great result Martin.

Lovely, Martin, I especially like the way you’ve done the foreground.

I like it. The way the brush texture shows through the irises definitely adds something.

A delightful composition Martin, and well painted!

The gesso has given it a wonderful textural effect Martin. Lovely piece.

Lovely result Martin but I have mixed feelings about these irises….my fault, I planted them at the edge of our small pond…..annexation, invasion…..ousting! That seems to be the continuing story of our pond😆 The style here also reminds me of Rennie Macintosh.

Great wworks well Martin

Thanks very much for your generous comments Stephen Heather John Spencer Lewis Coral Jenny Bobbie Alan Fiona Marjorie Thalia. I have some in my pond too Marjorie and they are making a takeover bid too. Ha

There is a serenity about this that I really like Martin.

Beautiful Martin; I really like the texture on the water and the flags are lovely. Interesting too that this is on a wooden panel, I like it. Did you apply the carbon ink with the fude pen?

Thanks David and Karen. Yes Karen I used the Fude pen. Probably not very good for the nib as the surface is very rough. Sometimes the intended stroke was pulled off course a little by the grain too.

Love the close up iris against the expanse of water Martin.

I caught these irises as they were about to open amongst the willows at Hatfield Moors in May. It’s my second attempt at carbon ink and acrylic inks on a wooden panel to which I’d applied acrylic gesso in hot sun. There was a lot of brush texture to work on. A3
