I’ve got a box of Caran D’Ache soft pastels from part of a Patchings award, that’s from 5 years ago and I’ve hardly used them! Such a great job done here Marjorie, that patch of sunlight is lovely.

Thanks for all the lovely comments everyone. I’ve put down my oils for the moment and am enjoying my pastels again. I prefer soft pastels, I have a lot of Unison pastels ( made in Northumberland by the way 😉) , some Sennellier , Rembrandt ( which are harder) and a fair few others bought years ago when my pastels were more like drawings. And pastel pencils of course, used sometimes for the odd tiny detail.

The colours, light and shadows are a wonderful reminder of how beautiful autumn is, despite being the season before winter! I’ve always admired your pastel paintings Marjorie, haven’t used pastels myself for a while.
