Great attempt Carole its not easy , I retire next year in spring , then I will Get some big Chinese style mop brushes and have a go.

This isn't at all bad Carole. I've never had a go myself. I assume you haven't done it since.

Nice work Carole. There's no hiding or room for hesitation in this sort of painting.

Brill

Lovely Carole. Both are very well done.

Thanks for your encouraging comments, not done any since but may try again.

I think many of the best watercolorists learn this style to improve their brushwork. This looks very professional Carole. Definitely not just an 'attempt' but more like success.

Superb, full of movement and joy, really great

Looks like it's on silk Carole... it has that Zen feeling Carole! I have a dear friend who tutors at the Confucius Institute Auckland University, and I am sure he would be impressed...

Lively and confident Carole wonderful

I've seen a lot of westerners trying to paint in the Chinese and Japanese manner, and by and large most of them don't quite make it - I wouldn't try it myself I don't think: I often use Chinese and Japanese brushes and inks, but not the same technique; because I'd fear being too heavy-handed, used as I am to heavy, opaque paint. But - I think you've got the authentic look with this one: lightness of touch, but still the strong, inky darks typical of Far Eastern painting. Did you use oriental paper? If not, try it and see how you get on. Accomplished Chinese artists would paint directly onto silk - I wouldn't dare!

Thanks all very much for your encouragement. I sent for this paper and ink online from Georgina Cowdrey in 2005! A roll of xuan paper together with ink. Robert I could never bring myself to spoil silk with :)

A difficult project but you have painted it really well Carole, it's a beauty!

A LOVELY PAINTING OF WISTERIA on Xuan paper, which is certainly not easy to paint on, as it will bleed if you are fast enough with the brush. lovely colours. Did you use Chinese paints or the Western verity? well done Carole.

Thank you Margaret. Thanks Tao, so pleased you like it as I know you are a master at Chinese painting. I have some Marie paints but I think these are Western paints.

This is gorgeous Carole!

A beautiful example Carole.

Lovely Chinese style, Carole.

Beautifully painted Carole.

Thank you for your kind comments I really appreciate them.
