500 years Tanja, I didn't know that, it will far out last me. Alan, I think it would be brilliant to see it done in a loose style in biro. I hope you try it. Robert, I'm using paper for oil. I'm not sure why I chose that particular type of paper. It is slightly textured. I did get a blot of ink and without realising my hand was rested on the paper and it made a smudge. I thought, that's it, ruined. Anyway, I managed to clear some of it with a putty rubber. I can still see it but it's not obvious.
I worked on it for a few more hours on Wednesday and finished it off. Still not sure what I think. Biro is certainly not a fine art tool. Is it effective, again I'm undecided. Biro won't be something I use regularly but I may try something else using biro in the future. Nevertheless it was experimental and I did enjoy the exercise.
It’s a really good piece of artwork Denise .
You did it and you did it well. It looks good Denise.
An excellent result nonetheless Denise, certainly nothing to deter you from having another go at some stage… For me, biro is more of a convenient tool for rapid sketching, as in Adibanji’s book, albeit I much prefer my trusty Rotring Ticky Fineliner pen.
Oh wow, it turned out absolutely fantastic!! I would have loved to see the ballpoint pen too :) Perhaps the picture needs to be protected so dust doesn't stick to it? Ballpoint pen ink is kind of pasty and oily, isn't it?
Here is the pen Tanja. It cost about a pound.
The Bic biro’s that I’ve used in the past, many decades ago, were dirt cheap and yellow in colour, and had a very fine point - and I don’t think they made too many unwanted blobs! I wonder if they’re still available! Doubtful I suppose.
Yes, I didn't get to many blobs, a couple maybe so it was reliable on that front. I could have done with a fine point. I can't say this had a fine point.
Fine point biros are still available Alan , might be useful for you as well Denise.

So they are! Still yellow as well - Bic used to be the best, I’m pretty sure they were the first on the market…a million years ago or so it seems…
