I have abandoned all the work I had on the go for the last few weeks due to a total loss of interest in them . I won’t go into the reasons why but I’ve not had time to touch them and when I tried yesterday all enthusiasm for them was gone, I’ve put them aside and hope to get back to them at some point. I decided to try something different and mentioned this to Alan Bickley, he suggested putting the stages on the forum , so here we are . I hoping that it goes well but I will post it no matter how it looks or turns out . To me it’s three panels on the same page, Alan called it  Triptych sounds quite fancy to me but he knows these thing . What I want to do is a study of the bark peeling off Birch trees and have chosen three different one from online photos , due to the shapes and the amazing colours. Please forgive the poor quality of the first photo as it was taken at night under the house lights hence the shadows. The second is the sketched outline of the tree stem and the peeling bark  It going to be a slow process as I still have little time to spare on painting but feel the need to have something to occupy my mind.

This sounds really interesting Paul and I can't wait to see how it develops. It's always great fun trying something new. Good luck.
Looks a great idea. Especially for watercolour. It's given me ideas.
Thanks Denise and Norrette . Looking forward to seeing what you do Norrette take the plunge and think about doing it as a WIP the more we show what and how we do things the more likely we are to encourage others to try it out .
I like the look and idea of this Paul, look forward to seeing your progress!
You've go my attention Dixie. Your outline drawing of the triptych is certainly intriguing. No doubt it will be a pleasing experience for you and us to see the progression of this work.
Can’t wait to see how the project develops! Like the triptych idea too . It’s good to try something different once in a while isn’t it?

Good move, better than flogging on with something you’re not feeling the love for. I look forward to seeing this one progress Paul!

Great idea Paul.  I know how difficult it can be to produce work when your thoughts are elsewhere.   It reminded me that I did something similar a couple of years back.  Effectively having three pictures on the go on one sheet of paper allowed me to crack on with it.  While waiting for something to dry on one part, it was easy to work on the other panels.  I'm trying to jerk myself out of inactivity by trying oils, but am finding it a little overwhelming.  I may pinch your three-in-one picture idea. I shall watch with interest.

Just adding best wishes Paul, I too will be interested to see your triptych progressing as it looks really interesting. I do like birch trees, one of the more interesting tree trunks.
I managed at last to get twenty minutes spare yesterday so added a basic background colour to made the trees stand out more . I didn’t know what colour to do so I decided on the lite blue temporarily I think it will look better with a darker colour  but again not sure which one . Has a spare half hour this afternoon decided to start adding some of the base colours.
