Paul, I don’t think you’ve messed it up.  The tree frames the subject nicely in this cropped version and adds to the feeling that the old motor has been abandoned to nature.  Maybe stronger colours than you’d usually use, but I like it. Put it to one side for a few days and then look at it again, you may see it quite differently.

I really like the stronger colours, and the crop.
me too can't see any messed up? its very good as it is.
Looks good to me Paul.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and support, I think when a painting doesn’t look anything like you planned you see it as a failure.  There are some decent bits in there and if I look at the cropped version it does look better. Not what I wanted but certainly better than nothing  painted.
As has already been said, I think it looks good - the intense background lifts the car out nicely. Different from what you expected, but good nonetheless.

Paul  don’t put yourself through the ringer I think your rusty banger is really strong and vibrant!
I looked at this painting in the Gallery first - and I had to come and have a look at the Forum.  It really is a very, very good piece of work - and I've enjoyed looking back at your previous WIP posts to see how it has evolved.
Anth , Gill and Bobbie thank you for  your supportive comments I appreciate them .
