POL Patience On Line.....I think the fact that the Forum home page is particularly slow to load, and threads like this, which have are devoid of posted paintings and with little by way of adverts, can be excruciatingly slow to load suggests this is not a problem with the content. At least www. no longer stands for world wide wait, at least not on most sites.
PS Curiously upload speeds of posts like this are much faster than download speeds. That's odd.

The down side of not being able to access the gallery or forum easily is that we miss out on some good posts. I’ve tried to keep up with the gallery but it get frustrated when it keeps me from moving on quick enough, so apologies to anyone who’s work I normally comment on for not doing so for the past week . Hopefully when it’s operating properly I can go back a catch up with the excellent artwork I’ve missed out .

I wonder if it would be an idea to remove posts from people who have not uploaded any work for the last so many years? There seem to be quite a few who used to be regular but are no longer active for whatever reason, and this would clear space if that is the problem. If anyone complained or wished to return, then that obviously could be arranged.
The site is just becoming tedious to use.

I don't think the issue is the volume of images. I manage a website with 20G of data split across nearly 100k files, but the speed isn't affected in any way by the amount of data. There is no intrinsic reason for a large volume site to be slow (think Google!), nor likely to be any advantage gained by deleting images or members. This is most likely something else, like using a slow hosting service or some change made to the way the database is being accessed (poorly-designed queries can be remarkably slow), although this is just pure speculation on my part.
