I have loved seeing all the snowy log cabins! Well done to everyone who has made the first forum challenge such a success. Please feel free to carry on with January if wish to but here is the challenge for February - paint a juxtaposition. Rene Magritte is a good artist to look at for inspiration. Good luck - I look forward to seeing what you make of this one!
OMG, this is going to be a hard one, not my cup of tea at all LOL Linda D
SWEET! I have a jux in mind already to get going on, tonight.
There is no picture, if there is I can't see one, just the mention of the artist. The jux I'm thinking is metal and glass, and hopefully with a touch of irony.
That's better - I confess shamefacedly that I hated the cabin idea, and while some surmounted the challenge, they only really did so by overcoming the shortcomings of the subject: which I suppose was the point. Juxtaposition, hay? Right then, monkey - that sounds more like it. We loikes a bit o' juxtaposin', 'ere at the Batcave. Well, they can't arrest you for it.
Well, here's my take. When I added the title I missed out a letter, hence the little bit of paper. Maiden Voyage — I think I've managed a little irony, there, with the ice.
Wow, Carol, what a great idea. Love the sort of "Art Nouveau"-style of drawing.
That's a really good start Carole, very clever, got to get my thinking cap on !!! Linda D
Just knocked this quickie out as a bit of fun. I've added it to the gallery also.
I'm not worried at all as I haven't a clue what is going on!
At almost nine miles from the sea, this anchor on Tenterden High Street (just opposite the office) is a bit of a juxtaposition. You did all ask for more of a challenge this time!
Thanks for the comments to my post, Mia, Anderson and Lesley. Just a bit of conversation to help, or maybe confuse, anyone who will have a try at this months challenge. With the image I have posted it may seem the jux is within the image because of the mighty iron ship within the delicate glass, this on its own is, symbolic, its the title 'Maiden Voyage' that give the jux. When we embark on a journey we never know what is ahead no matter how well prepared we are or what precautions we have taken. I have placed the Titanic in a glass of champagne as this is the tipple many celebrate with. The little bit of irony is the ice that chills the champagne, the same element that caused the ship to sink so tragically. The jux here, for me, is failure and/or success. Look forward to viewing other work, such a brill, challenge.
