It's best if POL puts out a message, as its possible those who do use this area may not actually see it this month.
Edit: Also if you wish to add to your blog you don't need to go through "Community" can just go through 'your membership'. So people posting even this last week may not know about it.
It's in line with elsewhere, so I expect it's to do with the legality of moderation. I run a few Facebook pages and getting the same message from them...all videos stored on the FB servers will be taken down.

I think one of the problems about any important messages put on a particular area of a platform telling of changes or whatever, is who actually sees them. Rather like in offline life....people don't read notices! I only joined in May this year, so I read everything, bet I don't bother in a years time. That's how things get missed really. I'm sure it applies on all online platforms. Plus I believe (but could be writing rubbish) there are different levels of membership, which might also limit what people recieve as notification to forthcoming issues. But as Alan says....we all are aware now.

I went back to the various emails from Facebook, regarding their videos. It seems their rationale is perhaps about storage space and copy protection. They are keeping videos on for one month only.
My guess is this might also be something to do with AI crawlers. A way of preventing one's video being used and abused by some bot or other. For which I am thankful.
But yes, blog users may be a different user group than us in the forum, so it needs to be more visible.

As I said before we need to be aware that changes are needed these day to deal with the legalities and the ever changing situation regarding AI . Unfortunately on many site AI is becoming quite dominant and making the experience of using them unconditionally, I’m behind Warners 100% for taking any action them protects them and us from being overwhelmed by unwanted AI and the risk of work being used to make money for someone else.
It’s appropriate at this point to thank the Editorial team, technicians and all the background staff that work to keep this site running and safe for everyone involved. THANKS TEAM I APPRECIATE YOUR WORK AND ONGOING SUPPORT OF THE FORUM AND GALLERY.

Hi everyone, just to reassure you — the community blogs and videos are free areas of the site, open to anyone with a free Painters Online account. They’re not part of the Studio membership, so no membership features or Studio Videos are being taken away. Although the community blogs and videos areas are closing, there are still loads of ways to share your work and stay connected, plus plenty of great content across the website to enjoy! Best wishes, The Painters Online Team.

I agree . Praise to any company that tries to protect its subscribers from the disgusting AI that seems pandemic these days especially in the art and music world. As for protecting our actual art from unscrupulous people, its far more difficult because of the way anything we put on the gallery anyone can find online away from PoL . This is the same on any platform, or forum. Keeping anything private and non usable these days I would imagine is nigh on impossible. But well done to Warners for at least trying to keep AI at bay.
