This is the monthly challenge not the sketch a day challenge. I’m setting up early but would ask that you don’t start till after the first of the month.  It’s a double challenge, so I will explain them separately  A/  Choose a paint from your favourite artist and paint it in your own style . B/ Do your own painting in the style of a favourite artist. It can be in any medium,  abstract, landscape, portrait, mixed media the world of artistic expression is yours to interpret as you want . My only request is that it remains within the boundaries of decency , and is not offensive so no one should feel uncomfortable.  The most important thing is to join in and enjoy your time, come on the more the merrier as they say .  Be nice to see some abstract and still life work as we don’t get a great deal of them .  ( Now I’ve to decide who my favourite artist is that  I can reasonably replicate their style .
Paul, we’ve had this challenge before, I remember which of my paintings I used for it - can’t, though, seem to find it on the forum.  I guess it would be good to do again anyway, especially if no-one else remembers it!
I honestly can’t  remember doing it , but Dawn did so many amazing challenges I’m sure she must have done most at some point. I will change it if people want me too.
I've never done it. I imagine there must be a few more. I hope you keep it really as I've been thinking about what to do all day. But I guess if people remember
I did one of Cezanne I remember. Also “ paint like Van Gogh”.
On reflection I do remember doing something like this , rather than remove it I will add a third part for those who want something different.  Part C  paint anything in a style you are uncomfortable with and a medium you don’t like  normally use , not that’s a challenge for the brave . I’m putting my neck on the chopping block and stating that I will do a portrait  in acrylic, I’m very uncomfortable with portraits and have only use acrylic once and didn’t like it one bit .
That's hilarious Paul. I shall look forward to that portrait lol Thank you for keeping the original challenge. I thought it a really good challenge and it will be my first art challenge anywhere. I said to Sylvia I would take a month to get to know the site and start to take part in the challenges in June. I might not do part three though. I've passed on all mediums I never reached for. But if I do it will be in the coloured pencils I've kept in colours I never use. More pondering lol
Paul is this the actual feed for the monthly  challenge,  I'm a bit confused being its my first time
Just to start this off…..a favourite artist of mine inspired me to do this painting…all I’ll say is that it’s the stance of the subject which is similar and a slight air of mystery. It’s my grandson but that is irrelevant. I’ll be surprised if anyone guesses the artist and the painting…good luck! I’ll post my version of the artist’s painting later.
Superb work Marjorie, I have no idea who the artist is . Yes Julie this if for the monthly challenge not the one for sketch’s .
This is my urban style version of Venus after The birth of Venus by  Botticelli.
My take on Gauguin’s The Potato Field.  (Marjorie, the stance of the figure in yours reminds me of Hockney’s painting with a figure looking into a swimming pool.)
