“My take on Gauguin’s The Potato Field. (Marjorie, the stance of the figure in yours reminds me of Hockney’s painting with a figure looking into a swimming pool.)” Jenny, you are right! Hockney’s “Pool with Two Figures” intrigued me and I tried to carry the idea into my very different painting. I also did my own copy of Hockney in acrylic.![]()

I was looking through my sketchbooks for something I might try to do again better, and I found a pic I did of that famous 'enigmatic smile.' I thought it would match this challenge, so I gave it a go. It's OK, but I still prefer the original version...I find that's often the case with sketches.

I think goofy Mona is fun. My picture is the second part of the challenge. An own picture in the style of another artist. This picture is to like my own style, but it has Hopper colours and shadows.my 21C Venus was far better for the first challenge.
I think I might have misunderstood the remit. Were we supposed to let people guess the artist. Marjorie said she might have gguessed it by the subject. Apologies if I've made a blunder.
