Impressed with all the work this thread has generated.  Bags of interesting stuff.  Fiona's smashing walnut ink drawing looks like an antique.   This is dip pen and wash.  Quixote...
..Grrrr this Ns very reticent about being posted.   Johns Lindesfarne Castle reminded me that I had done this one in situ in pen and wash.   A glorious place . I see we now have a flock of sheep on here

I used to do a lot of pen and ink work in my schooldays - probably not in the spirit of things to post this now, but hope no-one minds.  I sometimes wonder if we become less imaginative as we get older!

Coo....  I don't know if we ALL get less imaginative as we get older, but perhaps I have; I'm endeavouring to address this with all the new pens and inks I've bought; though I notice that I'm returning to some work I did 40 years ago - not sure that's a problem, though.  Anyway, are those critters in the bottom third axolotls, or salamanders (whatever the difference between them is)?  They look very cheerful!

A pen and wash sketch began ‘en plain air’. I added more colour later.
That’s a good question, Robert, can’t remember now, probably meant to be some sort of lizard.  (They’ve probably spotted a tasty morsel for lunch!) Haven’t heard of axolotls - will have to look them up.

Lynda - I like the painting of aged brick and stone, works well.  Keep an eye on the perspective - it's wandering a bit.
I must say, isn't it magnificent all the enthusiasm shown for this month's challenge and it's only the 8th. What a wonderful selection of artwork. I keep looking back at everyone's work and all the different styles. Truly amazing. That's a cracker Linda. Robert, I took thought of what you said. I do not believe we get less imaginative as we age. I think we get depth and variety of imagination. I don't believe aspects of imagination are recurring, although, it is natural to carry aspects of our own history, from birth to our very end. So when we get our pens out, we bring something old, something present and the new, comes from what we have already built, in preparation. That's my theory of it anyway. 😁
Thanks Robert, I see what you mean.
I'm loving this month's challenge.  Pen and ink isn't the easiest - just because there's no room for error.  Seeing as we're including Tombow brush pens, this sketch of Little Haven in Pembrokeshire drawn from life (looking out of the window of our B&B - and down onto the village - on 2 consecutive rainy mornings in May 2022) using Hobbycraft's much cheaper equivalents deserves another airing.  It was a preparatory sketch, but I've not done anything with it thus far because there's too much unresolved in the foreground.
I like your sketch Bobbie, you get some nice effects with brush pens. It looks like you were staying near that awful hairpin bend into the village. Here's my contribution - based on a photo of the Swan Hotel I took last week on a trip to Bedford, courtesy of my free bus pass now they have reinstated the route.  A4 on Daler Rowney cartridge with W&N ink.

I posted this yesterday in the gallery. Afterward, I realized this also fits this month's requirements of pen and ink...
