A bit of my very favourite artist…I did it my way, in coloured pencil . This is proving to be a very informative and interesting challenge .  Thanks Dawn.

One of Van Gogh’s self portraits?

Ear ear Jenny .
One of my very favourite artists as well.  At least you didn't paint the other ear - that would have been too much of a give-away!
Lol Jenny.
I agree with Fiona Frank, it's definitely The Execution of Lady Jane Grey, Hyppolyte Delaroche. I think that's his name. Sylvia, I love the Van Gogh.
Left shoulder of executioner stood on right of painting as viewed.   What an emotional painting not one I knew.  Even though I used to go to Bradgate park almost weekly.
I'm enjoying seeing all these snippets of paintings come to life. On a side note, my cat is named after Van Gogh.. aka 'Vinnie' . He's ginger and a bit mad, so it suits him well.
Is he called Vincent ,Helen and has he got two ears ?
He's 'Vincent' when he's been naughty... Yes, two ears (for now)
Great detective work Fiona, it is indeed a fragment of Paul Delaroche’s fabulous painting of The Execution of Lady Jane Grey. You put two and two together with my love and interest of Bradgate Park to back up your findings. I have stood in the National Gallery in London and viewed this with awe, the painting’s immense size and moving portrayal is a masterful work of art. It is also my wife’s favourite painting, although she has not seen it in real life.  My detail is of (what Wikipedia call “blood-red hose of the executioner”), but I’m wondering if that is a typo and should blood red rose?
The ginger hair and ear are a dead give away Sylvia, and I love your free and loose pencil marks. Great name for a ginger cat Helen! This is such an interesting topic.
