Paul, how about Walter Spradbery? He was a popular railway poster artist - his work was featured in one of the early Artist magazines and Dawn posted a review of the feature on POL a while ago. I’ll keep looking, though! (Another artist with a similar style was Frank Sherwin.)

No Jenny it’s neither of them , I think everyone is concentrating on railway posters , he did some but not exclusively his painting were used in the carriages , those of us of a certain age will remember the landscapes etc in the old style carriage
He did a lot of work of paintings of his home area East Anglia .

Gillian and Jenny. The artist was connected to the Arts and craft movement, but he's not William Morris. It was his wife that mainly did the craft stuff with his help. Their family life-style became one that people aspired to, and his paintings of it, mainly in pen and watercolour, very popular. He's not British.
