Yes, it’s from a painting by Samuel Peploe, one of the Scottish colourists, I don’t know the title of the painting. Alan, is yours either Monet or Turner,  of a cathedral or church that was done many times by the artist to capture the light at all times of the day and year. Without looking it up, I’ll go for Monet?
Well of course you’re right Fiona, it’s Monet’s Rouen Cathedral at Noon. He did indeed paint many of these from his temporary apartment/studio window, which was opposite the Cathedral  - capturing the changing light throughout the day. I have visited this magnificent building and drawn and painted it, it’s a complicated structure and ideal for an impressionist style or approach. I’ll have to come up with something more difficult next time!

Let’s try and stick to the brief chaps, otherwise the challenge is pointless! There’s plenty of opportunity to post your completed paintings on the gallery!
I think I know it Alan, to my surprise, Monet, Rouen Cathedral. Am I right. I'm probably wrong. I watched Monet and Turner on BBC 4 the other day. The Cathedral series blew me away, it was like being wrapped in this building in a fraction of time as he saw them.

Rouen Cathedral at Noon to be exact Denise.
Excellent Alan, I did recognise it immediately, being an amateur, I didn't want to say for sure, just in case I was wrong.
A not very good replica of an artist I  admire  .  Hint American.

That looks difficult Sylvia, I've just done a quick pastel so not sure if anyone will make heads or tails of mine but I like this challenge, so will do a few more probably.

And yet, I would have said the hands were Egon Schiele. Great work all...and I've just realised, I misread the challenge! Thought we just had a choose a section...not paint it!
Denise’s painting is by JMW Turner… Heidelberg if I’m not mistaken! An instantly recognisable bridge - go on, tell me I’m wrong!

It is a Turner Alan but that's not the title. A hint, we have been hearing about this building on the news lately.
