Pen and pastel, my grandad bought what he called sprats for his Saturday tea from the Market in Leeds , always wrapped in old paper.
I used to like sprats- very tasty! Don’t think you can buy them now? Good one Dixie, like the way you’ve drawn them on newspaper.
Decided to try out a bigger and complete scene using pastel , the lighthouse was drawn in pen and I used a white gel pen for the waves , just the odd splash .

Very dramatic Paul, it's good to experiment.
You can see why I don’t do portraits with this one , I was looking at LS Lowry and there were several photos of him looking around the town , well it’s just needed to be done. Now I can say I have a LS Lowry in my collection, think the great man would be amused. Pen and coloured pencils , just a sketch .
I was back at the Ludlow Friday Group yesterday.  Now that the summer programme of plein air painting is over, the Group is back to portrait and life drawing indoors at the Mascall Centre from now until the end of May.  We're so lucky to have live models to work with for a small weekly contribution towards their fees and the room hire. I began with a 35 minute pencil portrait sketch of one of our regular models, Carole - and I then used the 20 minutes before coffee break to draw her handbag and water bottle, which I've posted below.  Afterwards, I moved to the other end of the room to sketch our life model, David, another regular at the Friday Group.  I spent 40 minutes on a pencil sketch of his head and torso on the right hand side of my sketch book - then started a quick sketch of his feet and legs on the opposite page.  All good practice!
Morning! Well it’s last day of September ! The month has flown by and here we are !  A quick sketch of an allotment
My last one for this month, pen , pastel and coloured pencil .
Mine too! Well actually it’s a linocut I sketched up this afternoon
I sure Gill will soon change this to October, I want at home yesterday so nit able to paint , took some pencils and sketched the did the fisherman in pen and colour pencils last night, I find figures so difficult to sketch.
