The stats can’t be correct, can they? I’m not technically minded, and I don’t have a head for figures either....took me ages to actually find the total views counter!  It’s says, 533226, I assume there must be a few dots in amongst that some where. I went back to some of the older postings and they have much higher viewing numbers but they would wouldn’t they. This is where I’m sceptical, the highest view figure I can find is on a pen and wash still life of some Medlars, and not a very good one at that and it says, there have been 4122 views? Can’t be right. You also have to take into account how long you’ve been posting for, and how often you post, I suppose. Hasn’t there been two re-vamps of the site, one recently and one a few years prior to that?

Yes re the revamps,Fiona. The number of my posts on the forum doesn't add up, plus the fact that there don't seem to be posts before 2015. The good thing is that people comment, as Heather says. But there are still some, probably always will be, who never acknowledge comments and never comment on others' work. C'est la vie.
Yes, the stats are confusing.  All the views can tell us is that somebody was interested enough to click on the thumbnail to get the bigger picture.  Where their interest went after that is anybody's guess.  Another thing that causes me mild confusion is the tags applied to our names when we post, they change...and I haven't worked out when or why. When I first posted something on the forum, I was a 'new member'.  Very clear.  Then I evolved into a 'forum member', again very clear...and probably no need to go further than that.  But after a while I became a 'forum expert'...????....didn't like that, somebody might ask me a question.  I've just noticed I'm now a 'respected member'.  Maybe they found out I'm not an expert and I got demoted.  I see we've also got 'esteemed members.'  Linda mentioned the 'reputation' tag, I'm completely reputation free. There's also 'prestige members'...I guess you need some core like that to provide a backbone to enable the forum to function.  I've no problems with any of these tags, except that they all mean pretty much the same thing. I'm not complaining, just slightly puzzled by how it works.  The forum is a great source of info and encouragement, and because I've only been with POL for just over three years, I'm still a youngster on it.  Many a moon has passed since I could claim youngster-dom.
I’ve also been puzzled by our tags.  Marjorie and I are “Esteemed users”. However Lewis is a “Respected user”.  I have posted more than Lewis and Marjorie less.  Which is better?  “Esteem” or “Respect “?  Is anything going to happen, once I reach 1000 posts?
Just for the hell of it, here is my thousandth post on Census day.  Will anything happen to my tag?  No!

Obviously you take off - for the moon😁
But the extra one could have been me looking at your gallery.  I note that you didn’t go back to egg tempera.  But we will never know.   I’ve just looked at my gallery to find that I’ve had 64k viewings.  I would have thought that was good if Alan B had not revealed that he has over 10 times that amount.

In 2 seconds?  I doubt it, a painting that has never been Looked at for at  least 5 years, I think not.  Egg tempera?  YOU HAVE NO IDEA!. I choose not to upload my continuing progress in this demanding discipline .
A note to Linda Wilson who draws attention to my perceived lack of progress with Egg Tempera. With the lockdown I have been unable to source raw pigments.   Pigments ordered in March last year finally arrived in September. My progress in this media has therefore been slow and when I have something to show I’m sure you will notice.

Thanks Alan M.  It will be interesting to see your results.
Pre- new website, there was no option for likes so there will not be any.  That is why the like option has not really taken off.  There seems to be more comments than likes, which most websites would find strange.

When I look at the POL gallery from my Ipad, the 'like' button doesn't work. I would imgine other people have the same issue, depending on the age of their device.  Whilst I do look at the gallery quite a bit, I would like to 'like' a picture I've seen, without commenting. I'm finding a lot of other sites and apps recently becoming unusable for me, due to their constant updates, amd resulting inability to function on older devices (and my Ipad is not especially old).
I am the same as Lew, I can't quite figure out how the tags work, I am now a " Forum Expert !!!" no idea why because although I love art, I am in no way an expert. but HEY, I am not complaining it sounds good!! So far I have reached over 88,000 thousand views, with " My Fair Lady" taking the most with 850, followed by House Sparrow with Young, 710.  Views have definitely dropped in the 4 years since I joined.
