I’ve noticed that I am very close to making my thousandth comment in the Forum!  This led me to think about the othe data that this site gives us users.  I wondered which of my paintings and drawing drew the most attention and gained the most views.  I was really surprised that the most viewed (over 1200) was my first ever acrylic painting, which I painted soon after I retired from working.  It was of Trawlers in Sutton Harbour Plymouth.  The next 2 had over 600 views; one being a pastel copy of a Rembrandt portrait and the other a pastel of orchids in bloom.   As a market testing exercise, this completely failed as it gives me no idea of what you, the audience like. So, what have been your most popular items in the gallery.
Your post prompted me to have a look at mine. Nowhere the numbers you have Linda, they are excellent. I was very surprised to find I had 413 views on a watercolour I did called, Get Me Down From Here. I had a couple of oils and acrylics with over 200 views. I was pleasantly surprised.
Numbers were a lot higher, before the new website was developed.  So I think that 400 is high these days and 200 is good.
Well, you have put a smile on my face Linda.
I’m doing well on this front! Most of my views range from around 1500 upwards, a few below a thousand. My top one is a plein air oil titled Baroque Cathedral - Valletta, which has attracted a staggering 43,701 views to date. Frankly, it’s nothing special, so It’s beyond me! Total views is fast approaching 650,000, incredible stats and testament to the success of POL under Dawn’s stewardship!
This is really interesting.  I've checked and have commented over 23,000 times!  What does that make me - unselective or supportive?  I hope the latter as I know how comments make such a difference.  This is true particularly in my dry spells of which there have been many.  I visit the site every day (yes, am an obsessive) as I always enjoy looking at everyone's art and don't want to miss out on anything and I think it's good to encourage new members and painters and wonderful to see their work develop.  My own art normally gets between 400 to 800 views with 3 being over 1,000 - Laura in the Snow, Bert and Isla my great niece.  Interesting because the painting I like the best is Philip which was done almost at the beginning of my art journey.  I guess because I know him and I think I've really captured his soul.  He's Jamaican and an ex Jesuit priest and a most wonderful man who emanates goodness, humour and warmth.   Anyway, it's a lovely way to start each day coming to this site - thanks POL!
That's staggering Alan. I've just looked at my total views 13128. I joined in October. Again, I was surprised to see this many on mine so far even though I don't know if it's good, bad or average, it was still a surprise to think that many people took a look. I will say, well done Alan. Oh yes Alan, I enjoyed your article on framing and guess what, I have all the tools already just lying about. I'm going to have a go at making a small frame. It will be a new challenge for me.

Great stuff Denise, glad you enjoyed it and shout up if you need any further advice.
Heather, you are very supportive!  Almost Every time I make a comment, I see that you have already commented on the painting/drawing.  Well done!  I have some busy days and restrict myself to a thumbs up.  Alan, you are phenomenal, but everyone of your paintings is a winner. I will have a look for your Maltese one, after I have done my census return.
Alan, I-have just looked at your Baroque church.  I don’t think it is your best work.  I even think that the bell tower on the right is a bit wonky.  But perhaps it is the orange colour of the facade against the dark trees and reflections that caught people’s eye.
Well I have to agree Linda, it surprised me also... but there we go!
Stats can be very interesting.  You can make pretty much what you want of them, I guess.  This prompted me to have another trowell through my stuff, I'm not sure I'm any the wiser. Alan's stats are indeed staggering, but not surprising. Can I make anything of my stats?  I joined POL in November 2017, I've had 189052 views of my work.  A lot.  On the downside I've posted 715 pictures.  Too many.  I get an average of 264 per picture from this.  So I'm in the cheap seats as far as individual viewings go.  As far as I can gather after a rapid run through, the highest scorer in views is a picture I made of Queen Liz 1st having a selfie taken.  Definitely not the best thing I've done, but the only one to drag itself across the 1000 views mark. But all this means about 58000 people have looked at my work a year...or roughly 150 a day.  Prior to joining POL I made pictures simply because I liked doing it, the only people who saw them were my family and friends, and the couple of dozen people at my art group.  I don't bother with competitions.  So prior to POL, not much more than 150 people a year saw my pictures.  So that's staggering, I guess...though not as staggering as other people's efforts. I'm unable to get anything definite about what people like from these figures, except a vague notion that they don't like the same pictures as me.  But I knew that before I joined POL.  What people like wouldn't matter anyway, as I'm primarily doing it to keep myself occupied.  Although, obviously, it's encouraging when people do like your pictures.
