Donkies, Trains, Robins...nice work everybody.   This is an experiment I made.  I like water-soluble pencils for sketching, but sometimes I wonder if applying water to the drawing improves things.  This is a quick sketch I made using a 6b water-soluble pencil...I took a pic, and then applied the water with a brush (the one on the right, obviously).  In this case I think I prefer the plain pencil sketch, but I've had others that I've been really pleased with.  I think I'll do a few more like this, they don't take long.   I guess the answer is going to be.....sometimes they're better, sometimes they're worse.
Here's another.  Very quick drawing, very little shading.  When using the wet brush I used a bit of the dark stuff picked up to add a little shading.  Think I prefer the right hand sketch.   But not by much.  With a little care it could be much better.
So much to look at today wonderful sketches from everyone. Here's mine for today a donkey portrait.Me and the wife are going to Dartmoor tomorrow till Monday so hopefully will find time to do some more sketching.

Great work folks, donkeys , robins , snowdrops, and holiday scene, what a lot is going on. I did this very late last night as I am out all day today. I gave my self 20 minutes and stoped at 22. A pencil, pen and water soluble pencil, I outlined the fireman as I thought of adding some  colour to his clothing, might still try it. The scene is of the fireman emptying the fire box, please forgive and technical mistakes in the train.

Paul you have got such a lot of detail in 20 ish minutes, no chance of me picking up on any technical anomalies if there are any 😁 it's a fab drawing.

So sorry don't know how I have managed to post my comments multiple times there's no way of deleting them! Lewis both your set of portraits, all great drawings, I slightly  prefer the ones with the wash.
Think everyone is really excelling with all these sketches, all worthy of a mention but if I go back on pages I forget who's on the next page and then I lose my comments!! I try to keep up more on the gallery so if I've missed some, apologies. I started this off yesterday but only got it finished this afternoon, its Velma Kelly from the movie "Chicago" not a great likeness of Catherine Zita Jones but it was nice to do, I love the 1920's style.
Are there gremlins in the workings? Perhaps we are over working the thread....it can’t keep up! Lol More excellent sketches by everyone...my apologies for not mentioning you all individually, I will comment on the gallery if they are posted there. This is the other pewter door finger plate, the opposite to the one I posted a few days ago. This lady, along with her rather chubby cherub, represent the light, day, goodness etc....in pencil on Okra paper.

That’s a fabulous portrait of KZJ, Linda. I’m finding trying to get things done quickly helps sometimes as I don’t have time to fiddle, and concentrate on the main features of what in drawing, really good practice and I’ve learnt so much so far this month. I’m going to miss this next month.
Love that Fiona, the work that went into old door plates was beautiful. Paul sometimes I think the best work is produced in our quick sketches, transferring them to bigger projects never seem as good somehow, I've really enjoyed this challenge but ive made a promise to myself to carry on with more sketchbook drawings.
