Portraits by three utterly brilliant cartoonists. First that giant of cartooning (in my opinion)...Ronald Searle.... Nikita Khrushchev... ...Churchill... A Ralph Steadman self portrait... Trump by Gerald Scarfe...on his first term as Pres... I'm a fan of Hockney, but a few leave me lukewarm.  First a portrait of a business-man in the National Portrait Gallery.  I was surprised to find it was by Hockney.  A typical boardroom portrait of a no doubt worthy man.  I find these a bit dry and uninteresting.  Perhaps Hockney was demonstrating he could do these... A self portrait from 2012.  Not his best... He did a huge series of portraits a while back, apparently painting each one in a day.  Brilliant...

In passing - Max Wall was in my opinion one of our very few great comedians - and also a good actor; he seemed to have a real rapport with Maggie Hambling.
the middle one is Monet. Don’t know who the other painters are…. Can’t work it out. Just stuff I’ve come across today. I think Monet was hit and miss with portraits. This one is good though, something about it
Martin, the first one posted is by Jeff Hein, the third by the Russian artist Arsen Kurbanov.  Jeff Hein in particular has done some very characterful portraits - this is also one of his.

There’s a smashing portrait by Rodrigo Costa on the Gallery at the moment.

Fabulous style indeed, better than anything on this particular thread in my opinion, although I do like a few of them…

Whatever your tastes, there's always something new to discover.  I like Martin's posts.  Above, one by Jeff Hein.   I really like Arsen Kurbanov's work...
That’s good taste there Lee. Bottom one for me
