I am sorry to say that Paulette - who you may know for her wonderful sporting paintings - has passed away.  She had been suffering from cancer. (This has just been announced on her social media.)
Oh that is sad news. . Thank you for letting us know Emma.
Very sad
I'm very sorry to hear that.  I always admired her work.
That's - that's really heart-breaking; it's brought me to tears, I'm afraid. You see, when Paulette first posted on POL, a good many years ago, she was just starting out, and though she had promise, her work wasn't what she would have thought good enough.  Either she asked for advice - I think she did - or I jumped in and proffered it anyway.  I sent her a few sketches with explanatory notes on spatial issues, volume, which she took to heart, and soared away with wonderful action drawings (which made me envious, frankly!  What have I helped unleash here?, I thought...).  She'd had many problems in her life, but her drawing was release and freedom for her. To read that she is another victim of this evil disease is just deeply saddening; in truth, it's not evil, it's simply indifferent, has no motivation other than to sustain itself, and that's scarcely conscious; but its consequences have deprived us of a lively talent - I shall make a donation to cancer research today; perhaps we all could, if resources permit?; in memory of Paulette.
I’m also terribly sad to hear this most dreadful of all news!
Such lovely cricketers...so sad, my condolences .
So sad, she did such amazing work.
So sad indeed.  For a moment I admit her name didn’t spring to mind, but then Sylvia mentioned her cricketers and of course I knew. She also did some wonderful portraits and those beautiful birds. I guess on a site like this we come to think of a person in terms of their paintings etc, and don’t usually see the person behind them . I shall miss seeing her lovely work.  RIP Paulette. Thank you Emma for letting us know.

That’s very sad, I remember her sporting sketches well, especially the cricketers.

Sad news indeed such a talented artist. I have and do admire her paintings of figures always full of movement and fast looking action. Rest Peacefully lovely lady.
Very sad news indeed. There was a recent piece of work, I'm not sure if it was in the magazine or if she had won an award but it was of a cricketer and it really was a spectacular piece. Tragic news.
