As there was interest in continuing daily or at least daily(ish) sketches in March after the fun had in January and February, I've set this thread up today in case anybody wants to start posting on Sunday (in case I forget tomorrow!).   Hope to see at least some of you here next month!   There is no obligation to do a daily sketch for this sketch but this thread does give you the opportunity if you want to.   A few of us have done daily sketches since 1 January, but others just dip in to comment or contribute occasionally.   Hope you enjoy it and find it fun :)
Thank you Margaret.
This is one I did earlier and I'm pretty sure hasn't been on the main gallery. Based on The Annunciation, a much painted subject, but a simple personal version.
love the colours you used here.  Good sketch.
I agree with Sandi, lovely colours, Jim.  A lovely heartfelt sketch.

42 pages for the February edition of this thread, astonishing.  I wonder how far this March version will go.  It's prompted me to do some more realistic faces.  I much prefer cartoon and caricature which leaves me free of bothering with reference material.  I don't like copying stuff exactly, it's limiting and never feels like my work if I make a good copy.  In this page of five and a half faces I've used reference pics, but changed the faces a bit, merely using the light and shade info.  But I've come unstuck with the girl middle left...I made the mistake of using a very famous photo of a young girl.  To make her look older, I lengthened her nose and narrowed her face.  But, if you know the photo, it looks just enough like her to qualify as a bad copy.  Ha ha, that'll teach me.  Moral, don't use famous photos.  I think it's time I hung up my hang-ups about copying. It's all got a bit jumbled, I was hoping to get six faces on this A3 page, nearly made it...if nothing else, it's an economic way to use a sketchbook.
Plus you have hidden her earring in he now draped head scarf.... clever fella.
Welcome to March, I hope the weathers better. Will we have as many pages this month, I’m starting of with a very quick watercolour sketch. I have had several landscape going around in my head for the past week or two, no idea why the purple tree, but there you are. The portraits are excellent Lew, I like the chap at the bottom peeping over the boarder, I know you wanted the full face, but it really looks great.
Hi Dixie, I love your purple tree.  I think all trees should be different colors apart from green.
Everyone except the bottom two is a head above the rest.  They came out very well Lewis.
You are so good with your character faces Lew anyway, but I do copy my faces from reference free images, I'm not clever enough to do them as straight off drawings. Paul I love your different coloured tree, great stuff 👍😀
Just been walking new doggo Dixie  ,and the  trees are very gently beginning to come back to life .  Your tree has that  gentle blurred profile.  Lovely .
