I thought I would do a sketch in pastel using a verdaccio technique as I intend using this technique for the first time in oils for my next painting. Verdaccio is really a term for a green underpainting. I don't think it's used much today but I really like it. I'll get it finished in the next day or so with layers.

Several artists I admire have used green as an underpainting. I'll be interested to see the final painting Denise. I like your sketches Dixie, the cars are vintage Citroen aren't they? Love these old cars.
Lately I've done a couple of drawings where I just banged them out with little or no thought. It's fun to do, but usually I find them wanting when finished. I'm thinking of doing a more considered drawing next. It be in caricature style. I've drawn these quick scribbly sketches to 'find' the character I want. 'Haughty' is what I'm going for, at the moment I'm preferring the bottom left pic. For my purposes, 'haughty' works best when you're looking up the person's nose, also, a thinner lower lip seems to add a bit more 'haught'.
