its the 1st day of July so  we stat our sketch a day. I am still in Spain but its my last day and tomorrow I travel back to Orkney. this is my last sketch ( waterclour) before going home

I bought a new cartridge pad. I came across a photo and I really liked the odd bendy stance of the lady and the tattoo's. I thought I would have a bash at sketching it. HB pencil, I'm just going to work some charcoal into it.

Love your sketch Denise and yes Sylvia it would have been a good idea to stay in the heat as actually winter has not been away from Orkney yet!, I am back to rain and 11 degrees I am freezing!

I thought I would do a sketch in pastel using a verdaccio technique as I intend using this technique for the first time in oils for my next painting. Verdaccio is really a term for a green underpainting. I don't think it's used much today but I really like it. I'll get it finished in the next day or so with layers.

Love the green horse Denise and the finished item is great . Just doodling last night spent a about ten minutes on each at the most , might use the barge scene as a painting .

Several artists I admire have used green as an underpainting.  I'll be interested to see the final painting Denise.  I like your sketches Dixie, the cars are vintage Citroen aren't they?  Love these old cars. Lately I've done a couple of drawings where I just banged them out with little or no thought.  It's fun to do, but usually I find them wanting when finished.  I'm thinking of doing a more considered drawing next.  It be in caricature style.  I've drawn these quick scribbly sketches to 'find' the character I want.  'Haughty' is what I'm going for, at the moment I'm preferring the bottom left pic.  For my purposes, 'haughty' works best when you're looking up the person's nose, also, a thinner lower lip seems to add a bit more 'haught'.
