Paul, we did look at John Piper a year ago (week 34) and Alan did the introduction!  We’ve looked at so many artists since this thread started, it’s hard to recall which we’ve featured and which may have just been mentioned in other threads.
Oh well… he’s worth another look if you want me to have another go! Let me know…
This is for Denise… This is how JP approaches a complex structure…
One approach to painting buildings and urban scenes is to get the perspective right and keep the building features ( windows, doors ) loose, not necessarily straight uninterrupted lines. That’s too much like an architectural drawing. Haidee Jo would be a good eg here, though she doesn’t tend to do scenes like this. Having said that, it’s harder to do than you think.
Yes, I can see I have definitely started by overworking it. I have been doing a lot of detailed work recently but I want to be able to switch to that loose mindset when I want. Today, I have set myself a task, work fast and keep it loose.
Great, but remember that fast and loose, doesn’t mean slapdash! You still have to be in complete control! Not that this would apply to you Denise…
A quick sketch of some sheep on my walk earlier. Why do sheep move the second you get a pen out? Is it in their DNA?!
I do like sheep...these are nice ladies Tessa...you have to sneak up on them ,,,,quietly
I thought I had Sylvia! 😂
And some tulips for a painting.
Lovely sketches everyone!
