This is the sketch stage of an oil painting I started before. It's an Egyptian Vulture. I've basically sketched the face structure and the way the feathers will fall in oil. I was hoping to get it done in one sitting but I think it's unlikely looking at the time now. This bird has a lot of detail in it's face and I'm just about to start it now. They are so strange looking, I think that's why I thought they would be interesting to paint. I planned to paint the one I had done a sketch of already but this little chap was far more interesting.
I decided I won't rush him and will spend the day tomorrow finishing him. He's looking a bit better now.
He’s cute!
Impressive birds, AND - extremely useful, as are all vultures and condors, many of which are in sharp population decline.
The vulture is going be a super painting Denise! There are lots of Egyptian and Griffon vultures here in the mountains of Granada. They are enormous birds!. Yet another ruin from me. Sorry but I am a sucker for old ruined places
Just done a charcoal sketch of a waterfall never tried that in charcoal before and it’s not easy, oh well another thing to practice
Nice sketch Gillian, the scenery looks great.
Well I came across an unfinished watercolour in a drawer on Sunday. I started in 2012 but abandoned it partly done! Having found it I competed it Sunday evening… only taken 10 years! Could be some kind of record!
This is a wonderful piece Gillian and at least it's finished now. I'm off wild camping tomorrow so will be off line for two days. I'm taking some watercolours with me. I'm hoping to find time to paint but the dogs will be with me and they have never been camping and I haven't been for many years but felt like getting back to nature. It could all be a disaster. There's no mobile signal. I will have to catch up with all the lovely paintings posted when I get back.
Have a great time Denise!
A very quick about 10 mins max watercolour sketch using two colours Sap green and Payne’s grey. . I will use a similar scene as a demo at a workshop in July. I do think it’s wise to keep demo simple and then participants can have a go with a good chance of success.
Love that wee duck coming in to skim th water... nice quick sketch Paul despite the Payne's Grey....lol.
