Lovely sketches from everyone. Hope you are enjoying the watercolours Diane, very nice picture. Here is my second sketch ever. I come across a sketch set for £3. It had 4 pencils, 2 sticks of charcoal, 2 chalk and 2 brown sticks. Wasn't to sure about the brown sticks. Also strips of sanding paper, wasn't to sure about that either. anyway, I plan to keep it handy when I'm watching TV, so I can sketch a few nights a week when I'm not painting to try and improve.

So many wonderful sketches. I love your kangaroo Ron. Not a lot from me this last couple of days as busy decorating the kitchen and yesterday out with my children for a catch up. Here’s a sketch I did back in the summer at a nearby historic garden called Caversham Court just on the Thames . The very large trees and shadows of the fading sun really attracted me, might do a painting not sure yet.

Lots of interesting work, I’m avoiding individual comments because it goes over two pages and my brain can’t cope and I don’t want to miss anyone out! Not done much but here is a line and wash sketch for a forthcoming oil or acrylic painting. Trying to be organised rather than randomly grabbing a brush and a tube!

I'll just go with this page, thats a good attempt with the watercolour you will soon get the feel for them Diane. Denise that’s a good sketch for your first attempts, the sandpaper in your kit is for sharpening pencil and block etc. Do try daily as it does improve your skills . I find sketches quit relaxing and good exercise for my hand when they are not to painful. If you send me a private message I will give you some tips for resting your hand whilst drawing etc. Nice trees Hilary , you should try it in watercolour bet it would look nice. I do like your watercolour sketch Katy , is it from your holiday, it would make a nice painting too. I haven’t painted or drawn a train for sometime, partly due to finding them quite difficult, so I’ve set my self the task of starting one today , apart from the tree I’m in the process of doing. I don’t if I want to do it as a painting or a full sketch, this is the initial outline drawing so I can take it either way.

Thanks Paul, it is from my holiday, and I’m preparing a canvas for a painting sometime. That’s a good train drawing, the figure certainly gives it some scale. I’ve been tidying up my workshop and I came across these Caron D’Ache Neocolour water soluble wax crayons which I bought some time ago and had a play whilst watching Columbo (well, it is raining!) and found they worked quite well with a water brush. I might have another go with some decent paper! Rose hips, blackberries and sloes.

A couple of delightful sketches Katy. I especially like the autumn fruits. And Dixie, a very detailed train sketch, should make another good painting. Mine is a pencil sketch of some conkers and acorns picked up today. Although I think the larger conker looks more like a lawn bowl, but I’ve done it in colour as well on the gallery and it looks better there!
