Hello this is new to me the Forum so apologise If I am writing on the wrong thing.
I have been on Instagram for 3 weeks and now thinking should I have gone on there yet? Is there a rule what steps to take first? I find it hard putting my workout there as it is. That's why I came on here 😁 little steps. I have not been to an exhibition either. If anyone has any spare time to give me some feedback and on my artwork that would be fabulous. Is anyone on here on Instagram? Kind regards
Faye 🥰

Hi Faye I don’t think there are any rules as to where you should start showing your work. Putting your artwork on here was a good move as people on the sight are generally very helpful and given constructive feedback. You count put your paintings on the forum asking for critique there is a section for this, I’m sure the feedback will be very helpful. The benefit of a sight like this is that you will get the feedback from people who paint and have a good understand of art , I think Instagram is too open to people to make good or bad comments without knowing to much about painting. I have probably just upset a lot of people with that comment but I do believe it to be true. Normally putting a painting on the gallery give feedback on how people view the finished painting not usual very critical. You could also put things on work in progress, this give us the chance to see how you work and if asked give opinion , ideas etc. What ever you do keep posting your painting they are good and as time goes on you will get much much better and more confident.

I don’t have the time to trawl through your gallery and comment Faye, but as Paul rightly says, post something on the forum and ask for critique!
I’m always more than happy to give you my honest thoughts and advice. It may not always be what you want to hear, but any criticism will be constructive and hopefully help in your progression.
I have been commenting on your work in the gallery, and I’m very impressed with what I have seen so far!

Hello Faye.
I'm quite a techno-phobe like you describe yourself, and I don't / won't / can't do instagram, whatsapp, twitter, etc. I can just about manage facebook (begrudgingly, that is!.... I really hate what social media has become).
I've been on here since beginning of last year I think, and it has been great to be able to get advice on even the most simple things (like taking a photo of my painting, for example), and also to read what other artists are randomly thinking about.
I don't post regularly (largely and frustratingly down to my aging ipad not playing ball), but I do have a look in often, even if I don't say much! There's always something interesting, be it paintings in the gallery, or a forum post about glazing, favourite paint brands, colour mixing, brushes, to use black or not to use black, etc... Since I joined the site, the forum has been a real boost during the difficult year and a half we've all had to endure.
