I like your work Faye and am enjoying seeing Snowy and his/her story.   The site is great for feedback and I love looking at other people's work and seeing how they progress and develop even though I am a very slow painter myself!
Hi Faye, I like your work. I will always post a comment on work that catches my eye, like your ‘Shards of Hope’, it really caught my attention. I’m on Instagram and Facebook, I’m also on The Nottingham Society of Artsists, online gallery, where I’m an exhibiting member.
I've thought about using Instagram, but haven't used it yet.  Twitter is a vile place, frankly - the very pits of social media.  Facebook is actually rather better - but you can waste an awful lot of time on there better spent painting. The thing about online posting, though, is that it does get your work out there - and you soon learn to distinguish between critics who know what they're talking about, and those who don't (though not everyone has to be an expert: the general public's reaction is probably what we're all aiming for ... beyond our own immediate need to express ourselves: it's just that expert opinion is inclined to be more helpful).    When to start showing your work - there's no cut-off point, but I should say it's around the point at which you can see some good in your work and are able to take criticism: if seriously in doubt as to its quality, I might perhaps have held back and practised a lot more; but then, the internet didn't exist when I started painting, so  I showed it to a professional artist, whose advice was candid.  Looking back over 50 years or more, I'm not sure she was always right - but that doesn't really matter: it gave me an idea of what to look out for in my and others' paintings.   There's a space on the Forum for work in progress, and work on which you seek advice - post in one of those if in doubt; but don't neglect the Gallery even if you feel a bit bashful about showing there.    As a matter of interest, are you the ice-shards painter, and did you take inspiration from the work of a painter whose name I've forgotten who painted, I think, scenes from the Frankland expedition?  If so, you need have no fear that your work can't stand up for itself against anyone else's.
Hello Robert  Thank you so much for your feedback. Much appreciated. No this is where I am abit naughty. All the shards ones are from my mind and no reference at all and I used to always do this but told off for it. All my abstracts from mind which I love doing but then have self doubt. Thank and yes good to keep posting and not fear. Kind regards Faye

Hello Folks. I have only one social media account; namely my guitar channel on YouTube. I didn't have any trouble recording myself playing, but I have started to think about a painting channel, and I am struggling with recording myself, when painting. The problem is, I rarely do any paintings Alla Prima, and I have to interrupt the recording, to wait out drying times.  I suppose I should take a leaf from Alan Owen's book and just paint the complete subject wet in wet!! Cheers John
