As I had suggested starting a themed ‘monthly favourite’ and a few of you thought it would be a good idea, shall I start one off for April, with Portraits?  Perhaps someone else could then follow on in May with a theme of their choice.  I don’t do many portraits, but these are two of my favourites.
They are great Jenny, portraits aren't my usual subject but will post a couple later,  so many of our paintings seem to slip through the net lately so this is a great idea to show some of our earlier work 👍🤗
Have already posted my favourite but here's another couple - my husband with a beady eye and Laura in the Snow.
Jenny I can't say I do portraits but I try to practice. I have much to learn. I've tried a few and these I prefer, I do like to have a go but I do realize it isn't a thing I am very good at. I would hope to improve a bit in the future.
It 's interesting to see portraits from members who don't normally show them - Jenny for instance. And, of course, there are portraits from " life". ( the most difficult because you are starting from scratch, transposing 3D into 2D ). "Life" portraits plus photos as an aide memoire seem to be what most portrait artists do, a series of sittings then working on from those with photos to refer from. I would love to be able to always work from sittings but we all know the difficulties - the time needed and the difficulty with children. So....one of my portraits is wholly from a photo and the other two are from a sitting plus photos. I'm sure you can guess which is which.
Some wonderful portraits  you lot are clever.  Maybe one day I’ll get over myself and have a go.  Mine are all sketchy stuff.

Wow.  Wonderful work on show.  A few I've seen before, some I haven't...but just great to see them here.  I don't really do portraits, but I'll have a rummage. Lovely how this theme has developed, the monthly theme idea is a good one.
Some fantastic work so far.
Those are the only two portraits I ever sketched. One is my grand-daughter Laure and the second one is 70ties French actrice and singer Marie Laforet. I posted them in the gallery years ago but never sketched or painted a portrait since. Maybe I should start again?
They are lovely Mia, you should certainly do some more 🤗
It’s great to see the lovely portraits all posted here together on the forum.  Not sure why I suggested portraits as they’re not my thing, but I’ve become more interested recently after seeing some beautiful portraits by contemporary artists such as Carne Griffiths and Alpay Efe. It’s also been interesting to see all the PAOTY re-runs now that Sky Arts is on Freeview.

Fantastic portraits, I’ve not had a chance to try any life drawing so mine is wholly from a photo for my art class.
