Nice sketch Tessa. You’re lucky to get a delivery. I can only get “click and collect”.
Lots of great figure sketches, a skull and acorns since last I looked in. I’ve been playing with conte crayons and saw a couple of nice pots on tv, just a fleeting glimpse but enough to inspire me to do this. Had thought I might turn it into a painting but I’ve creases the paper so it’s just practice.
You get some super drawings with conte crayons Katie, I was looking at the cat you did, charming and these pots also look good with the shadowing as well. I've never tried them. Tessa your figures are always very good along with Paul's, both always have plenty of movement going on. The acorns are such a beautiful colour Paul. Thanks Alan, I will keep that in mind, not to do the skull to round, this was the first one I tried, I'm going to study them a bit and hopefully I'll get there with the right shape. Eventually that is.
Hi Paul Yes we’re fortunate to get a weekly food delivery, it’s because my husband is on the government vulnerable/shielding list and has been a godsend as they gave us a weekly slot initially til October but since the second wave extended til March. One of us pops to our local Coop for papers on a Saturday morning, but I’ve got to the point where I’d have to force myself into a normal shop again! Weird isn’t it? I think it will take quite a push to get back into ‘normal’ life even with the vaccine. Katy I like the effect of your conte crayons, very good solid shapes.  And Denise, have you got a real skull hanging about in your house!? You have some wonderful and varied subject matter.
You can get very good replicas Tessa, I don't have one though.I did some anatomy when I did my nursing years ago. I've got lots of nursing and medical books I've built up over the years.
Aha! Good source of information then Denise. I bought an anatomy book some years ago to help with figure drawing but found it very dry to look at, not even sure where it is now! I love figure sketching from life when out and about in cafes etc but of course that’s been difficult this year. Hopefully 2021 will be better all round.
Some really good sketches of figures and very nice vases, I haven't used conte crayon for ages but was never able to get such a good effect as you have Katy. I was looking back at some of the sketches that I have done since we started the monthly sketch and thought sone would make nice  little watercolour sketch’s . I have quite a few bit of off cuts or watercolour paper I sometimes use them for testing colours etc , but decided to use the for the sketches  this one I’d a bit smaller than a6.
Nice tap Dixie, love the vases, painting people im afraid I haven't really come to grips with as yet. think I will keep them in the distance so I can paint them using the carrot method. as its snowing here in March I thought I would go Christmas, here is a Robin. Inspired by Mathew Palmer lesson.
I like the sketches Alan and Paul. Tessa - I know what you mean. I’m reluctant to go out too. Anyway, here’s my effort for today. A man on the phone - from an old photo again.
Yet more brilliant sketches! I have not been well so. mojo on strike! But today I have done a quick sketch in pastel pencils (Carbothello)
Lovely pastels Gillian. I said the other day that I dislike drawing pictures of people I know because it very difficult getting a likeness. I’ve been thinking about it and decided to have a go at a self portrait and surprised myself - it looks reasonably like me! Here it is.
A couple more good portrait sketches Paul. No idea if it looks like you,  it if you say so we must agree! Selfies are so difficult. Paul and Alan, I really like your taps, and the robin version would make a good Christmas card. Gillian, for someone with no mojo, that’s pretty successful! Hope you’re feeling better soon. Here’s my little cafe scene for today.
